New to mac. Thought that the download folder by the trash can was kinda like the download page that comes up for windows whenever downloading. So i just moved all the download stuff to the trash thinking that it would still be in the finder-download folder. But its not. I wanna know how my music and the apps that i downloaded still work if the original file is not in the download folder?

It depends, what apps and music have you downloaded? Apps you download via the App Store are downloaded to the Applications folder and not the Downloads folder. Music you download via iTunes are stored in the Music folder. So if you delete everything in the Downloads folder your music and apps would still be available.

For my music, I actually transferred over from another computer which is why I find it odd that my music still works eventhough the files in the folder are not there. I did not purchase the music

iTunes has an option in the preferences to copy music files to the media folder (Music folder) when you add them to iTunes. If you have that on, then iTunes copied your music files there when you added them to it. So even if you delete them, they will still be available.

Check your music folder, the files are probably there.
