.mac free version?

Just been ordering my first photobook on iPhoto and it asks for my .Mac address, now I'm on the free trial at the minute but is there a version for the future that is totally free but just gives access to such features as these books? Kinda like a .net passport, or do I actually need to pay to make photo books?

Can't you use your Apple ID (the one you use for iTMS or the online Apple Store)?

You don't need .mac to send away for an iPhoto Book. I have a friend that gets these books made all the time and he doesn't have .mac. I'm not sure what he uses for an email address, but he does not have .mac. Like the previous poster said, you should be able to use an Apple ID. All Apple wants is the ID you use to purchase things from Apple so they have your mailing address, and billing information. It doesn't necessarily need to be a .mac email address.

I wish .mac would offer just the e-mail address for like $25 a year. Then I'd be all over it.

you can have a 50mb email-only .mac account...but before you can get it...you have to first buy .mac for a year...and before it expires, add an extra email account under your main .mac account....say the main is joe@mac.com he then made another one under that one named joe1@mac.com ...the joe1@mac.com would be able to be used for 10.00 a year even after the original .mac subscription is gone...here's a links:

50 Megs of email storage for $ 10 USD, when gmail is free and giving away 3Gigs. <-- hard decision.

i agree...gmail is a lot better (it's one of the main ones i use)...you simply can't beat free when it works and gives you massive storage.

Gmail is much better than anything else for email. But .Mac is much better for storage since you can't store any individual file larger than 10 MB on GMail.

The only free version is the 60 trial of .Mac. Would definitely give one a chance to try out .Mac for free.

On the Gmail site, look in the bottom left, below "Labels". There should be a blue box that says invite a friend.
