OK, so I bought my first iMac. Nice enough. I still have several PCs in the house, and thought maybe you guys could help me get adjusted to the "mac" way of doing things.
1. On the PC, no matter what application I'm using, the keyboard stays connected to the blinking cursor on any text input field. No matter what the mouse does, a tap on the keyboard will put another letter or whatever on the text input field. Using the mac, my keyboard input frequently gets lost. I'll use the mouse to expand the window or schroll the page down. The cursor will be blinking in the text input field, but nothing the keyboard does gets put in that field until I use the mouse to click where the cursor is again. This doesn't happen all the time. I'd have it figured out by now if it did.
2. What key or key combination is used on the iMac to move a cursor to the beginning of a text input line? On a PC it's the HOME key. HOME key on the mac seems to work the active window not the cursor. HOME and END work just like PageUp and PageDn as far as I can see. Can they be reprogrammed?
That's it for now. Thanks. My biggest frustration with this mac is text input and loosing track of where my active cursor is.
