Hi guys.

I'm trying to share my mac airport connection with my pc running xp64.
I've managed to get the pc connected to the internet but it seem very slow
to load pages.I've enabled web sharing in services so that seem ok.
Any ideas on how I can speed up the web browsing. When I click a bookmark
it takes ages as if it's trying to work out the connection.Any help would be great.

Paul.

So out of curiousity, since it sounds like you have a lot of firepower going on in there, why not buy an 802.11g PCI card for the XP64 system?

But, ahem, anyway, do you have IPv6 enabled on both/one/neither of the computers?

Thanks for the prompt reply.I do have a wireless card installed on the PC.It is a D-link 510+.The problem is D-link doesn't have any drivers for XP64 yet.
Sorry for such a newbie question but what is IPv6?.

I thought about drivers and XP64 after I posted.

IPv6 is a replacement protocol, in the long term, for internet protocol. Among other things, it increases the size of the address space. Anyway, it is not commonly used yet, but sometimes there are extra delays trying to get something via IPv6 and then defaulting back. Well, some people say there are and others say there aren't.

In OS X, you adjust the IPv6 settings by going to Network in sys prefs, then the TCP/IP tab of the connection in question, and configure IPv6 at the bottom.

I don't know how to do it in XP. But you might try turning IPv6 off on both computers.

Another thing to look at is the lease time the Mac grants the XP computer for the connection -- make sure it is really long, like 1 day or more, so that the lease does not time out, and the XP box does not have to wait for lease renewal....
