Early 2008 MacBook Pro. Yes I know it is a dinosaur but with a hard drive SSD upgrade it has been a trooper all these years. I want to ask about a new situation that has never happened before:
This happens lately when I put my Mac to sleep either manually or by closing the cover. I usually leave it plugged in at this time. If I leave it for a few hours, when I come back to it I find that the computer is exceedingly hot as if it has been running hard for some time and can hear and feel the buzz of either the drive or the fans working hard. I open the notebook to a black screen and am unable to bring up anything forcing me to do a hard shutdown and restart. It restarts fine with no problems and actually becomes much more cool while using normally. I just purchased a brand new battery in case that was the problem, but the same happens with the new battery as well. Also, the battery area is actually cooler than the rest of the computer.
What could be the cause? As I said, this is a brand new problem. There have been no other apparent problems. I am 100% sure I am putting the computer to sleep before leaving, yet when I return it seems to be working hard and exceedingly hot, even with the cover closed. I open to a black, crashed screen and when I do a hard shutdown and restart it works fine.
Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!
