Hi all,

I have an iPhone running iOS 15 & a Mac running macOS Big Sur. I have Handoff switched on & I used to be able to copy on my iPhone and paste on my Mac. For some reason, this has stopped working now.

Also, when I receive an incoming call on my iPhone and attempt to switch it to loudspeaker, a dropdown menu opens where I can select my Mac to play my call through. I do not need nor want this.

Any idea how to get the paste on Mac function back and switch off the play through Mac function please?

Cheers all!

Several things need to be in place for Universal Clipboard to work so just to verify the basics first...

The devices need to be using the same iCloud account as the primary AppleID. While there are exceptions for Wifi make sure Wifi and Bluetooth are turned on and the devices are within Bluetooth range of each other. And the 'Handoff' setting needs to be turned on on the Mac and iPhone. On the Mac its found in Settings > General. On the iPhone its found at Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff.

For good measure make sure you can see the Mac and iPhone using AirDrop.

Although I dont think the device requirements have changed for Universal Clipboard you can still make sure your devices meet the requirements here .

Assuming thats all still fine I would start with power cycling all the devices AND the router. Since the router handles bonjour and other protocols there is always the chance that isn't working even though you still get good data throughput.

Although its somewhat rare you can try signing out and back into iCloud on the Mac and iPhone.

In my brief testing it seems the clipboard is shared in real time, but not afterward. So for example if you copy text in a document on your iPhone while you are sitting near your Mac it works. However if you copy text on the iPhone while you aren't home (or just far away from the Mac) and than sit down at your Mac the clipboard hasn't share, nor will it. And while its slower I don't have a problem using it over LTE when WiFi turned off. Its slow enough that I get this progress bar on the screen of the Mac. It could be using Bluetooth for text and it would make an adhoc wifi connection for an image like AirDrop....not exactly sure.

Hopefully something in this post points you in the right direction to get it sorted out.

Thanks!

I tried each one of your recommendations sequentially & unfortunately they didn't work. It's very surprising!

If anyone else has any ideas, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you all!
