Any ideas on this one? My iCloud photo library isn't updating when my Mac (high sierra - latest version) is connected via my iPhone 7+ (iOS 11 - latest version) using the personal hotspot connection.

I also use iStat and can see there is no network activity on the Photos app. Everything else is fine and getting a strong internet connection.

Photos updates fine when connected to any other wifi network. I've restarted the Mac/iPhone etc.

Any ideas??

I would guess that they disable some things when they know you are using a hotspot. After all, they still insist on a 100 MB limit on downloading or updating apps over cellular connections.

A quick search (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8099771) shows that this worked in Sierra, but High Sierra blocks it. So it looks like they disabled it.

You can still use iTunes to sync photos (either by USB or wireless sync).

That seems annoyingly typical with Apple! I wonder if the public beta fixes this?
