Hi,

Not sure where best to post this, so thought I'd start here.

My wife noticed today that texts from my Mac show up differently than texts from my iPhone. The Mac texts just show as texts from my email, whereas texts from my iPhone show up normally from me with my normal contact info and phone number. From what I can see, all my settings are synced, but this feels like I'm missing something or something isn't synced properly ...

Anyone have any suggestions on how to sync it so texts always show as coming from my same contact info regardless of where I send them from?

Ty if you can help!

There is a setting called "Start new messages from" found within Settings for Messages. Make sure that is set to the same phone number on both devices. You'll likely have to delete your existing conversation on the Mac and start a new one in order to get it to send from your phone number.

While you are in the settings, make sure the "You can be reached for messages at" is set up the way you like it as well. Personally, I've unchecked all my email addresses and only allow my phone number to avoid situations like this. Also, these settings don't sync between devices, so you'll want to double-check your phone too.

Hmmmmmm.

I found all of those settings, but my phone number does not appear as an option to 'send from or receive' texts/facetime on my Mac. It's set correctly with my phone as default on my iPhone, but it doesn't show as an option on my Mac.

I went into my apple settings on my Mac to check that my apple ID looked right, and my phone appears there where it should. If I view 'name, phone, email' on my Mac, I see my phone number under the 'contactable at' section, with iMessage beside it. And it also shows as verified elsewhere. So I'm really confused as to why it isn't populating into texts or facetime.

Any additional thoughts? And ty for your help so far.

Interesting.

I was planning on tackling this issue today. But when I woke my computer, there was a message asking me if I wanted to associate my phone number with my Mac texts and facetime. Coincidence? Haha no idea, but I'll take it. I can now select the options recommended by iStorm above and thx all for your help.
