this seems to have started with the latest beta; my (intel) imac wakes up after i put it to sleep; sometimes in minutes, sometimes an hour or so later. then, after i put it back to sleep, it stays asleep.

i have (as i always have had) 'wake for network access' and 'start up automatically after a power failure' (in energy saver, in sys prefs) unchecked. i tried undoing/redoing that. no difference.

anyone else? and any ideas??

this is still happening on the 12.2 final release (in fact, after installing 12.2 and rebooting, i slept my mac.. and then it woke).

is anyone else seeing this? not sure what the culprit is...

I am also experiencing issues with my Mac staying asleep after updating to macOS 12.2. It appears to be constantly waking and sleeping. I am using several attached peripherals (keyboard, drives, mouse), but I did not have this problem prior to 12.2.

my imac wakes just once after every initial sleep (sometimes immediately, sometimes 10-20 minutes later. my mouse, keyboard & music keyboard are all BT (the music keyboard is mostly off). but once i put it back to sleep, it stays asleep.

i reported twice in feedback assistant, and need to investigate the link mentioned in this thread (life, been busy).

anyone else with this issue, or workarounds... please post!

Try switching off bluetooth before putting it to sleep and let us know if that fixes it.

Happens on 12.1. My bluetooth headphones and mouse just don't disconnect from bluetooth even if the Mac is in sleep. That wakes up my laptop.

From virtual machines with Big Sur and Monterey, it seems Apple removed the option to disable “Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer” from the Advanced tab.
This corresponds to setting RemoteWakeEnabled to NO in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth._____.plist
This can be done from Terminal
- read the current values
sudo defaults read ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth.*.plist
- set RemoteWakeEnabled NO
sudo defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth.*.plist RemoteWakeEnabled -bool NO
- set the correct permission
sudo chown user:staff ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth.*.plist
where user is the name of the current user.

if i switch off bluetooth, how do i turn it back on? my mouse & keyboard (satechi) are bluetooth...

EDIT: nevermind, i see the options in 'advanced', both checked, to open bluetooth setup assistant of no mouse or keyboard is detected! so, will try this today... thanks

Add another report of this issue on my 2019 iMac on 12.2. Ever since the update my machine wakes up 45-46 seconds after it sleeps.

My working temporary workaround is to turn off my trackpad on the device.

Using pmset -g log | grep -i "wake from"

Also others report to disable wake from bluetooth sleep, mine has been disabled for awhile so it is not bluetooth that is causing it.

Here is my pmset -g output. Powernap is disabled:

turning off my satechi keyboard seems to work... for now. but didn't have to do that before the last beta-just before 12.2.

i let satechi AND apple know (seems to be an apple issue, since it started with an OS update).

fixed, apparently. i reset my satechi keyboard (as advised by their support ppl), but, ironically, updated my imac 20 minutes later to the 12.3 beta. so.... not sure where the fix comes from... anyway, letting ppl know...

I turned off Bluetooth as @yawarkhalid suggested, and the repeated wake issue resolved. Like @schwartzki I had been seeing my Mac wake incessantly.

My Magic Trackpad was really the only vital accessory requiring Bluetooth. I am now using it corded with Bluetooth off. (I probably should have all along since I use a corded keyboard and mouse. I've never needed the trackpad to be wireless.)

Does 12.2 have the 'advanced' option in bluetooth preferences back?
It was removed since Monterey.

Thank goodness I found this thread - I thought I was going mad.

+1 for all of the same symptoms - just appeared after 12.2 (final) upgrade. Things that I tried to fix it:
  • NVRAM reset
  • SMC reset
  • Disconnecting all external devices
  • Safe boot
  • Resetting bluetooth via sudo pkill bluetoothd
  • Un-pairing and re-pairing my Apple Bluetooth keyboard/mouse/trackpad
I was seeing the same 45 second wake cycle in my pmset -g logs and found the only thing that keeps my Mac asleep is turning off the keyboard and mouse and trackpad. Leave any one of these on and the 45 second cycle repeats itself.

I really want to get everything back to sleeping properly and given that it doesn't seem to be a wide-spread problem, I wanted to see if there's anything else that we're running that could be interfering with macOS.

I'm running the following utilities and wondered if any of you were, too:
  • Hazel
  • OneDrive
  • Unsplash (daily background desktop image changer)
  • Carbon Copy Cloner
  • Keyboard Maestro
  • TextExpander
  • Fantastical
  • Cardhop
  • Better Touch Tool
  • Default Folder X
Do any of you use these utilities, too?

Also - I'm seeing on both machines that I have (both on 12.2 (21D49)) - a 2019 desktop and 2020 Intel MacBookPro.

Anybody else with any thoughts - as this is driving me bonkers ...

Thanks in advance.

I use OneDrive, CCC, and BTT.

However, the issue does seem very much tied to Bluetooth. Once I disabled it, my Mac slept soundly.

BTT here too, but I tested with BTT disabled and in safe mode and was still seeing the issue. I also created a new user account with nothing altered from defaults and saw the issue.

Has anyone tried a complete OS reinstall yet? I'm hesitant because I'm suspecting this is an OS bug.

How come this thread got marked as resolved? Did someone find a solution? (apart from the disabling bluetooth workaround)
I think the OP felt it was resolved in 12.3 beta, but no one else here has tested. (It’s also possible that 12.3 doesn’t yet incorporate the changes that led to this bug if it was branched prior to this change.)

I was going to until the Bluetooth workaround.

Ohhhhh that makes more sense!
