Hi All,

Ive got two problems...

The logic board on my ibook has just gone...£400 - 500 repair cost.

and...my mighty mouse nipple is not scrolling down now.

Sometimes you think you hardware is all failing on you.

any help on either would be really nice...

i suppose you know about the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program?
in the improbable case that you do not, hten here ya go

Some iBook models manufactured between May 2002 and April 2003 (serial model range UV220XXXXXX to UV318XXXXXX) are experiencing specific component failures. If your iBook is one of the affected models, you may be eligible for the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program. Visit Apple's web site to learn more about this worldwide program.

If you dont beinift with the service mentioned above, it would make more sense to get a new macbook for £649 rather then getting your ibook repaired.

On the mouse...could just be dirty. This mouse isn't easy to open like most, but it can be cleaned.

I have had that same thing happen to my mighty mouse and usually if i hold it upside down and spin the ball in every direction it will dislodge whatever is stuck in there. Sometimes it takes awhile, but i have always been able to get it working again. Kind of a pain that Apple doesnt make it easier to clean it out.

I hate to be a party pooper, but the $19 Microsoft optical wheel mouse has done me way better service than any Apple mouse - particularly the one with the eensy weensy scrolly bally thing - feh.

That's the 'repair' I would do for that one.

Yeah, mine's still going strong after 4 years :D
I know a lot of people here don't like Microsoft, but they do make good hardware :)

have you tried to call apple anyway, ther plenty of cases when people got their machines repaired although they were out of warranty/coverage, its worth a shot :D

Hi,
My iBook was 7 months out of warranty and I phoned Apple with a "sob story" and they replaced the logic board free of charge. Good for customer relations.
It has to be worth a phone call, what have you got to loose?.

Good luck
Dave :)
