Thanks. I just ordered that monitor today. Do you like yours?Hey ah sorry no answer (yet). But I have that monitor too, and getting an m1 mbp in 1-2 weeks. So I can let you know how it goes.
Thanks. B&H Photo inUSA had a sale on it today for $100 off. I have been researching 32“ monitors for about a month; in the end, without seeing them, one has to just pick one. They also had the Mac Air M1 16GB 1TB at $150 off sale (preorder) so I ordered both and will cancel my MacBook Pro Apple order, using the $250 saved towards the monitor.I really like it. I was coming from a 2013 27 inch iMac, the bigger screen and it being 4k has been really nice/liberating. The colours are really nice too if you get the settings right, and so is the hdr with video content produced for it (though I know it's at the lower end of the standard). Though bear in mind I'm not a vid/photo editor.
The biggest downside is the speakers, which are crap, but I like to use my own desktop speakers anyway. Would be nice if there was usb-c PD too, but that would generally double the cost, at which point I'd rather get a good thunderbolt 3 dock with PD.
Most of all it was a great price here in the UK, considering the other 4k 32 inch monitors that are out there.
So I have the M1 mb, which is is really nice compared to my old hot slow mb. And yes, it worked straight away with the display using USB-C at 60Hz at full resolution, really enjoying the setup. Some things I have noticed though is when it's plugged in, the MB thinks it's plugged into power but doesn't charge, (to be expected as the display doesn't support PD, but not sure if that affects anything performance/battery wise). Also System Information seems to think the display is 6k.Thanks. B&H Photo inUSA had a sale on it today for $100 off. So I'm in the same boat where I am about to purchase both an M1 MB Pro and the BenQ EW3280U monitor. However I keep reading so many conflicting things. First I'm pretty sure the monitor has PD up to 60 watts. I've also now read a number of times about the M1's USB-C not displaying at 60Hz (people are saying it only outputs to 30Hz with the BenQ EW3280U) but your experience seems to be in contrast to this.So I have the M1 mb, which is is really nice compared to my old hot slow mb. Yeah, it is a bit confusing. I have one of these monitors incoming and I hope the issues get worked out.So I'm in the same boat where I am about to purchase both an M1 MB Pro and the BenQ EW3280U monitor. I got this monitor and can confirm 4K @ 60Hz is not working on both USB-C and DisplayPort. There where some rumors that is was fixed in Mac OS 11.1 20C69. So I tried it but it doesn't fix it.I have a BenQ EW3280U monitor and mac mini for a few weeks now.
It works on HDMI, but so far after support from apple and Benq it does not work on USBC (although I have seen people who do have same setup and it works).
The cables and mac mini are fine, so I'm waiting for BENQ to check certification/Calibration of m1 devices with this monitor.
Yes. didn’t work for me on Mac mini M1. Nothing works on usbc.Anyone had a chance to try the Mac M1 with BenQ EW3280U and something like SwitchResX to see if that allows you to have 4K @ 60Hz using USB-C?
I also contacted BenQ and indeed they confirmed that USB-C to USB-C doesn’t work. They said Apple should fix this or maybe they will have a firmware update.RE my EW3280U not working on Mac mini USB C
My USBC port failed completely 2 weeks ago, so I took it to apple for repair and I took my EW3280U. I confirmed that the monitor worked fine on an M1 Mac book. So the problem is definitely with the Mac mini. When I got the repaired Mac mini back (apple checked the usb ports closed loop) I tried my monitor again. Still not working at all.
Meanwhile BENQ contacted me and also confirmed the Mac mini does not drive the EW3280U correctly. There is a timing problem. There is a firmware fix to work around the faulty apple software, but I am going to have to send the monitor back to get the firmware upgrade.
I decided to not wait for the apple fix, because they have known about this problem for 6 months and done nothing. I don't feel like waiting another 6 months not know.
and I got it back from BENQ after the firmware update and it still does not work on a Mac mini using USBC to USBC. Seems like we will have to wait on apple for this one.RE my EW3280U not working on Mac mini USB C
