Hi,

I have a number of groups set up in my Mac contacts book. Each group does not contain duplicates but when I use the group in mail it replicates some of the email addresses sometimes 3 times. I've checked the contact book for duplicates and switched off using contacts from googlemail. It does only seem to be some addresses, usually ones that I have used a lot.

I've tested this by creating a test group with just one entry and it consistently replicates some addresses, but not others.

Using the group from my iPhone and iPad doesn't replicate the email addresses so presumably its the MacBook mail app that is doing this.

It's not completely random as the replications are the same every time I try to use the group.

Help please, I can't use the groups at the moment, as the effort required to de-dupe is large.

UPDATE - I've just discovered whilst doing more research myself that if I go into edit distribution list in Contacts the replication are there - so it isn't mail it's the contact app. Bit it won't let me delete them from there.

FURTHER UPDATE - Sorry to have bothered you. It looks as if running the "look for duplicates" option in the contacts app doesn't actually remove the duplicate cards, the first time. It just listed the cards under the same name, and I could see them and edit them individually. Now I've run it again and its seems to have actually merged the details into one card.
