Mac Mail Import Option Not Working

I have Mac Mail (v. 9.313124).

When trying to import data from Apple Mail, I receive the following message:
"You can find the imported mailboxes in the folder named 'Import' in the mailboxes list."

The problem is that there is no folder named "Import" in the mailboxes list.
So it looks like the import option does not seem to be working in my case.

- Is the list of your postboxes displayed on the left side of the Apple Mail main window? -> (Toggle with Shift + Cmd + M)
- Do you see a local section in the list? Is it hidden or shown? -> (Hover over 'local' and toggle by pressing 'show/hide' next to the right of the + sign that is also shown)

Can you see your folder 'import', now?
If not, there probably was an error on import. Report back, please.

Yes, the postbox list of local folders is present on the left side of the main Apple Mail window.

To my understanding, the Import folder should appear "after" I have completed the import process, but does not appear in my case.

What version of MacOS are you using? Can't seem to find any information on what version of Mac that version of Mail goes with. Guessing old, as my copy of Mojave is 3445.104.1.

Yes, on success it should appear under the local section. Glad to hear that you figured it out. If you still do have some problems, we need to know the source application, the file format and maybe the platform of the import origin and in case there are some, any error messages. Sometimes there has to be done an additional conversion step before importing, like converting line endings of a .mbox file.

What version of MacOS are you using?

Could it be OS X El Capitan 10.11.x?

Yes, I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.
Two mailboxes (or folders with emails in them) were accidently deleted from the "On My Mac" listing of mailboxes.

These email folders are hidden in the following pathway:
Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Mail/ > V4 (V4 in my case, but the V number may vary with the individual user).

The accidently deleted emails were not located in these hidden email folders, so I accessed the missing email folders with .mbox files from an external drive backup, and transferred them to the hidden email folder pathway as noted above. Only then could I "import" these files back to Mac Mail.

I periodically export my local mailboxes and keep those separate copies along with my documents, photos, and other data.

No need to root around hidden folders or run the risk of unintentional modifications. Also makes it easy to transfer to new setups.
