I'll keep mail running and minimized, and it will randomly pop up in the background. Has there been a fix for this yet? It's been happening for months, and I don't know what's causing it.

I have seen this from time to time, but it is always accompanied by a pop up asking for a password for one of my mail accounts. This started happening for me after upgrading to El Capitan.

Yeah, on the right side under the search bar it always says "login failed" for a second but then the mailbox loads anyway. It doesn't ask me to log in again. Just wondering but do you have a lot of different emails logged into mac mail? I have 7 email inboxes, and I'm wondering if that could be the issue.

I see the same thing... for me, it's usually one of 3 email accounts associated with my ISP (cox.com). Generally, by the time I go to mail to try again, whatever caused the issue has cleared.

It's honestly more of a PITA than a real problem.
