I'm about to purchase my first Mac in the next few weeks. I was wondering what typical things need to be done for a Mac just to make sure it's up to speed and maintained well. I know on a PC you have your defragmenting and things like that. What needs to be done for a Mac in order to keep it running in the best shape?

Repairing permissions (in disk utility) once every other week is also a god idea. And if you shut down your computer at night you might want to use sudo periodic daily/weekly/monthly to maintain performance (macs only do this while in sleep)
