My wife and I will be taking a bit of a road trip from Arizona over to Missouri at the end of the week and I intend to invest in some Map software so that we can view routes and get directions from my Powerbook while we drive.

Before I started to do this on my own I wanted to see if any of you have been in a similar situation and have already bought software that you are happy with.

Suggestions based on personal experience are welcome.

Two things I can think of...

1) Mapquest / Yahoo Maps / Google Maps at Wifi hot spots.

2) Google Earth at Wifi hotspots.

I think asking locals is better. They know more.

i used route 66 route 2004 on a roadtrip from ma to fl. that plus a tripnav usb gps and my old ibook, and we were set. It was pretty cool. Realtime updates, helped find the highway a few times on pit stops, it also has a library of hotels, motels, airports, restaurants, tons of stuff. It is also good for planning trips. I'd recommend it.
