I haven't paid attention to my superdrive in quite a while...largely because I have an external dvd R/W from Lacie that is faster and more reliable...that and I don't use it much anyway.

Lately, due to my purchase of the :apple:TV2, I've been ripping/encoding my movies and tv shows. I decided to try to cue from both drives and found that the internal drive doesn't work anymore...it spins, clicks, whirs and ejects the disk. Is there a diagnostic that would tell me if it is shot? if not, is it worth it to attempt to clean the drive head?

other thoughts?
