Hi everyone i've been looking for this answer but I haven't found anything about it yet. I have procured a Core Duo 1,1 Mini and have 3GB of ram and a T7600 Core 2 Duo to upgrade it with. What do I do past that? Do I flash it first or can I install the RAM first? Or do I have to install the CPU then flash it and then install the RAM? I've been getting mixed answers that the 2,1 firmware works with the Core Duo and that it doesn't. I've also been getting mixed answers about it not being able to boot with more than the 2 GB of RAM before it is flashed. I know the 1,1 EFI will work with a Core 2 Duo and I can flash it then but I also know it won't use the 3GB of ram until it is flashed... but does that mean it won't even boot with the extra ram? I'd like to be able to do this all in one quick swoop. So any insight would be helpful. (Yes I know it's old that's not the point, it's the fun involved with it) thanks!

What was the answer? I installed a T7600 in my old 1,1 but never got any further than that.

Here is what I suggest:

1. Flash firmware
2. Upgrade CPU
3. Upgrade RAM

(you may need to reset NVRAM after CPU upgrade)
Think about it. If the computer does not have instruction set to contact the newer processor it will not post, thus firmware upgrade first.

The MacMini will work 100% fine with the new CPU. The only thing you gain is the ability to add more than two GB of ram and the ability to install Lion without too much trickery. If you only upgrade the CPU and keep the RAM at 2gb it will post fine...
