I have a mac mini that was the 1.83ghz version. I did a cpu swap and now has a core2duo 2.0ghz. It has 2x1gb sticks and wanted to know what's the max ram i can put in it. Wanted to put 2x2gb sticks but wanted to make sure it would work.

if the 1.83 was a core duo, then the machine is capped at 2GB. if the 1.83 were a core 2 duo, then your machine supports 2x2GB (only 3.3GB usable).

This is a near duplicate of a post I left elsewhere...

Under System Profiler, what is the "Model Identifier"?

When you have that, take a look at this table:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_mini#Specifications_2

For example, I have a "Macmini2,1". Apple only "supports" 2 Gigs in this model, but I put in 4 Gigs, of which 3 are considered "addressable".

If yours is a "Macmini1,1" on the other hand, you are capped at the 2 Gigs that someone up list already mentioned.

mine says.
Model Identifier: Macmini2,1
meaning i can max out at 3gb?

i ended up buying a 2gb stick and removing one of the 1gb sticks. so now i have a total of 3gb

What about CPU what's the highest speed/ spec CPU I can install
