Hello All,

I recently bought a 2012 Mac Mini 2.3GHz 2GB DDR3 RAM. I have already upgraded the RAM from 2GB to 8GB.. Now I would like to upgrade my 500GB hard drive to a SSD... But according to the Apple website you can only upgrade to a SSD with the 2.5GHz model...

So I guess my question is... Is that the case?????

Thanks,

There is no difference between the two machines except the cpu speed and the gpu.
Apple only lets you buy an SSD maybe on their order page, but that doesn't prevent you from sticking up to two drives of your choice in the box.
Yes, there is space for two drives and there are two esata ports. You'll need a data doubler from owc if you want to add a second drive. Its not so simple. But swapping out the magnetic for an ssd running as a single drive system is simple.

Voids warranty if you replace it yourself, only RAM is user upgradable.

Apple or official repair center can do it for you while keeping the warranty.

I too replaced my standard 500gb drive with a Crucial M4 256gb SSD and with the 8gb of RAM the machine absolutely flies compared to the standard model, i also have a MacBook Pro 13 with the same spec and i have done the same with that but i fitted the Samsung 830 256gb SSD and both machines run identically on everyday tasks. Boot up in approx 10 seconds to log on screen, applications load instantly. It just makes it a really lovely machine, i used the original Hard Drive in a case as an external USB drive now.
More than happy and you will be too.

mac mini 2.3 i5 500gbHDD.

Accordind to the Apple site as one friend said they said that that at the 2.5ghz upgarding with ssd. So is this confirm that i can replace my HDD with SSD?

Also if this is confirmed can i use my SSD as a primary and my 50GB HDD as a secondary with a dual kit, accordind the iFixit. Please give some tips. Thanks
Any other tip will be helpful, for example if i can change the video card
