Mac mini 2010: 10 seconds beep/tone after hard drive upgrade

Hi - thanks for trying to help!

I've upgraded my Mac mini 2010 with SSD drive but now it is not turning on the display and after 2mins30s exactly I get a beep/tone that keeps repeating every 10 seconds without stop.

I then tried to revert back to the previous non-SSD original hard drive and I get the same problem now

I searched online and found nothing for this 10 seconds beep, any idea what problem I may have?

I noticed that most common problems during SSD upgrade for this mini are:
1) damaging the thermal sensors on the motherboard
2) breaking the sensors that stick to the drive
3) or even breaking the motherboard when removing it

I called Apple Authorized Support (not available in my city) and they suggested testing if the mini boots without a hard drive connected.

It doesn't and once I turn it on, the fan goes to max .. and after 2min30 I get the 10s beeps also.

Any help is appreciated *thumbs up*

I'm not sure about the timing aspect - 2 min 30 s? - but the single beep is reminiscent of RAM error in the power-on self test (POST). Google around to see if that fits the description.

Redo The Assembly

I was in this position when I worked on my last project. It was a MacBook Pro 1,1. I installed an SSD and put everything back together. I still don't know what I did wrong but I do know how I solved it. I took the entire thing apart again, and took the new drive out. I checked it to make sure there were no issues with the drive itself. Then I reinstalled it. Make sure you check that there are no loose screws, wires caught in brackets, or other obvious problems. Make sure all cables are connected as well. Once everything is put back together then try again. Another thing you can do is connect a Time Machine Backup Drive or another Mac (That Mac must be connected via Firewire and in Target Disk Mode (You can set up Target Disk Mode in System Preferences or by holding down "T" on startup)) and hold down the "Option" key when starting up the Mac with a new drive. This will ensure that everything except the drive works, or that it doesn't. Via the Time Machine Backup Drive you can also use Disk Utility to format the new drive, and install OS X.

NOTE: I've also done this same process on my Mac Mini 2011. I ran into a different set of problems that didn't break the whole machine, just parts of it that aren't required for the daily usage of the machine. (ie. Power LED and IR receiver)
