mac mini 2010 ssd nightmare

hello all.
please help me.
i installed a ssd in my mac mini 2010.
every thing went well, but then i turned on and hd the fan blowing 100%.
on closer inspection, i had broken the thermal sensor on the old hard drive.
i purchased a new one, fitted it and same problem 100% fan?
tried smc reset.

is there a way to bypass the thermal sensors?
i tried ssd fan controller and it did not work.
smc fan and i stat states 0rpm on the fan.

could it be a problem with the fan itself? it works but just at 100%
mac mini works fine just super loud.

im out of warranty, so open to ideas

is there a way to use a resistor on the fan, to bring the rpm down?
the mac is only used for xbmc really so nothing to demanding.

Did you check the fan connector to verify that it is fully connected, and not broken. It is very small and extremely easily broken with even the slightest tug on the wires (experience ). Possibly the tach feedback wires are not connected, so the fan runs full tilt.

Fortunately, I found inexpensive exact replacement fans with connector on eBay.

From what I remember when upgrading my Mini 2010, the sensors are attached to the HDD/SSD by adhesives. I applied an additional layer of isolating tape over them to assure they'll sit properly. Maybe every time you close your Mini, those sensors become loose.

I know when this issue comes up with iMacs people have been able to use apps like this to bring down the fan speed. Might work for you.

unforunately the fan states 000rpm in the application. so im unable to control the fan. even though its going full speed.

is it possible theres a fault on the fan itself??

any help welcome.

It sounds like you did not transfer over the thermal sensor, but usually these apps can control it. You might try some of the other apps that do the same thing.

me again.
tried most of the fan applications, and still getting 0rpm on the fan reading.
could it be the fan?
as most of the apps work by bypassing the thermal sensors.
could i have messed the logic board some how?

Fortunately, I found inexpensive exact replacement fans with connector on eBay.

I would check this carefully ... the tiny connectors are very easily dislodged from the housing when removing or replacing.
