Does anyone know what brand is the stock SSD? and how fast it performs? Is it true that TRIM is only supported on stock SSDs?

I'm thinking about replacing it with a OCZ Vertex 3. Is it doable? How important is TRIM? I will be using windows most of the time.

Hey macminosh -

I can't comment on the original ssd, but when I upgrade my drive to a ssd it was 7 screws, very very easy... even easier than getting into my windows computer for that upgrade.

Thanks

@YellowDart

Which SSD did you get? Is it a lot faster than the stock SSD?

bicycle = 5400 oem stock hdd
vespa = 7200hdd
corvette = ssd sataII stock oem ssd

maserati = ssd sataIII

all tooling around on a highway = mac mini

you get a huge boost with the stock ssd

buying the fastest is not much better speed wise due to other factors. if you want max speed go owc they have the best returns.

any of the 6g models are the fastest more or less. I used micron and samsung so far they are nice. the micron has another benefit it is 7mm easy to slide it in.
