Hi all

what are you guys with this machine running? My HDMI port does not pick up any signal, MDP works fine!
I only found this out as I sold the machine and the new owner said he couldn't get no image via HDMI port!
Apple said it "needs" a new logic board at £340!! F that!

I looked at the firmware and have

Boot Rom: MM61.010B.B00
SMC: 2.8f0

I was trying to install V1.8 but when trying to install it says I don't need it??!

is it game over for this Mac? although works fine with MDP since I have had it.

That's the latest firmware that would have been installed with either Sierra's security updates or High Sierra and it's later than any other separate firmware update you might find.
Unfortunately, Apple's diagnosis is probably correct. You could keep using the MDP connection, though.

Yes would of been HS. Might just keep it as it works fine for me. Thanks

I'm not sure about the UK, but in the US that repair bill isn't worth it.

If I were in a similar situation, I'd sell it again with the caveat that you can't get the HDMI port working. You won't get as much, but it is honest and there are people out there like you and me that must use MDP for our monitors anyway.

Yes for the repair price I have seen lower spec machines, will post it up again with the HDMI issue.
