Hello all,

Just recently got the i5 Mac Mini and would like to know if everyone experiences the same issue as me when I wake the Mini from sleep.

It's connected to my 1080p HDTV with an HDMI cable, and if I press the trackpad or button on the keyboard to wake the Mini from sleep, the Mini fires into life and I can briefly see a greyed out image of my desktop (complete with volume indicator showing full volume), then it might go blank but then come back with a 'snowy' screen, go blank again then come back with the normal picture, all in the space of about 3 seconds or so.

It's done this a fair few times now and otherwise operates perfectly, but I'm just concerned it might be one of those HDMI issues I've been reading about...though I thought they had been sorted out.

Anyone else?

It's hdmi handshaking. I've noticed this behavior is sometimes different between TV's. It also will occur on pc's (not the grey screen but you'll get a couple of flashes). I used to work connecting computers to TV's for digital signage (mostly macs) and it would vary but almost always guaranteed on older TV's.

Thanks for the info, have Googled HDMI handshake and will try one or two things when I get home. Would you be tempted to return the Mac Mini in case it gets worse, or does it not work like that?

I don't think it will get worse. Try using a program called switchresx to force 1080p and see if that makes a difference.
