Has anyone tried El Capitan on their mac mini(2012; any specs)? How is it holding up?

I have a base model 2012 Mac Mini (4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 2.5 GHz core i5)

Really no noticeable difference in performance versus Yosemite...maybe a slight increase but nothing major. Stability seems fine.

That's really nice. I'm looking forward to buy a 2012 Mac Mini(i7 quad core; I know it's rare) and I just wanted to know if I'll go with it or the 2014 Mac mini.

Thanks for the reply.

Have a i7 mac mini 2012 and put El Capitan beta on it. Ran good, but a lot of bugs. Graphic issues and I am not sure if it is the graphics card or just because it is a beta. Had to delete the beta and go back to OS X Yosemite. OS X Yosemite runs great with the mac mini 2012 and "IF" and I say "IF" OS X El Capitan does not work with the mac mini 2012, OS X Yosemite is fine. El Capitan should work fine, but probably wait for the official release.

Hopefully they test El Capitan on older Macs(early 2009, even 2007) before the official release.

I just want a "future" insurance that El Capitan will also run great on MM2012 because I will primarily use it for iOS development.

Well, let's just wait for the official release :)

I have a 2012 Mac Mini running Public Beta 3, no issues, quicker than ever. (I installed an SSD to it)

10.11 B5 is running on my second drive in my 2012 i7 Mini Server w/ 16GB RAM and stock spinners, with 10.10 on my main drive. No issues with either OS, driving a Dell P2715Q at 2560x1440.

i'm running 10.11 Beta ( PB version ) on a '11 base mini and no issues -- just some quirkiness that I thought Apple would like to know and fix before GM'ing 10.11... spec on my machine - i5 2.3 / 8GB / 500GB 5400rpm ... I upgraded to 8GB ram like 6 weeks after purchase then later on I upgraded my boot drive via external SSD thru FW800... but my 10.11 beta is on the 500 spinner still inside of mini.. no video glitchiness etc on my end ..

I'm experimenting with El Capitan.

My platform is a late 2012 i7/2.6ghz Mini (quad CPU).

I'm running El Capitan from a firewire800 hard drive -- also experimenting with Yosemite (on another partition of the same drive).

Right now, El Capitan doesn't seem "as fast as" Yosemite yet, but I haven't tweaked it to the point that I have with Yosemite. But it seems to be "getting there".

I will make the disclaimer that I've made some "under the hood" changes with Yosemite that most folks would consider to be "unthinkable", but I've done them anyway and the Mini runs fine with them, much better than it did BEFORE I made the changes.
(Example: I've disabled VM disk swapping to reduce ins/outs to the drive)

I've been running El Capitan with no problems. The last update seems to be very solid. I would not recommend as your dedicated OS yet because you can never tell what the next Beta brings.
