So Apple just released the new Mac Mini. I want to run Plex Media Server on it. Additionally, I'd like to play movies from this same mac mini (with Plex media player) directly to my 4k UHD HDR TV (in HDR).

The easy option would be via HDMI. At Apple's event earlier today they mentioned the new Mac Mini has a HDMI 2.0 port. The same I could find at the tech specs on Apple's official website about this new device.

With HDMI 2.1 already existing, why did they go for HDMI 2.0? Additionally, HDMI 2.0 does NOT support HDR output. It only supports 4k at 60hz... HDMI 2.0a or higher supports HDR as well. That means, when playing a HDR movie from the new Mac Mini to a 4k TV, it would not use HDR, due to the HDMI output port not supporting it...

I really hoped Apple would have put at least HDMI 2.0a in the new Mac Mini... Am I right here? Any ideas?
