Mac mini 2018 i5 /8/256 vs i5/16/512

Good Morning,

I see these questions all the time.... and now I have one! I am a teacher, so mostly Word, PPT, DropBox, Keynote, Web Browsing, Email, Photos, Devonthink and Evernote. I dabble in Logic and GarageBand infrequently. I use a T5 1TB External and keep Photos. Logic Library and iTunes on that....

Will I see a huge difference in these 2 machines (i5/8/256 vs i5/16/512)? I can save about 400 without the upgrade.

Personally I don't think you will. My needs are similar to yours. I produce some music in Logic, but largely my uses are similar to yours. I'm planing to upgrade the RAM as that will be the biggest bottleneck in the system, and an eGPU when money permits.

However, I would've gone for the i7 had the supplier I ordered from had it in stock. I was able to get £200 off the i5 MM making it a steal in my opinion. I wouldn't have bought one otherwise.
