I'm surprised and impressed with the performance of the new Mac Mini. I was planning to invest in an eGPU but it seems like I can run 60 FPS at medium texture settings.
This is the Mac Mini 6 core i5 version with 8 GB of ram.
I have a Dell 25" (1440p resolution) LCD - following this thread I was able to mimick a HiDPI resolution (1920x1080p) https://medium.com/@ivan.ha/how-to-...play-in-macos-sierra-using-hidpi-f53d87630c48 - it looks great!
Dota 2 (really the only video game I play) runs at 60 FPS (fixed, VSYNC enabled) on medium texture settings. Not all the graphical options are enabled but it is completely playable and I've saved myself having to invest in an eGPU.
