Well in a 2-26 GHz Macmin3,1 I get 144 for OpenGL (XBench 1.3). Are you using the same version of everything ? :)

Here you have both, while the processor is much faster and the memory too, the video seems to be a mixed bag. As a matter of fact the Genie effect seems really smooth in the mini while it is just jumpy in the macbook, ymmv.

Edit: The mini is driving a panel at 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz while the Macbook is driving the internal 1280x800 panel (@60Hz if I'm not mistaken). Have a lot of fun.

Old as in 950?

I'm guessing your old Mac Mini was the 950. That has been out for ages, so the drivers are mature already. The 9400 is plenty new, so give it some time for the drivers to mature. Don't forget that drivers occasionally give a 50% boost to some games, so it'll make a difference.

I tested at 1280x800 on the Mini, the OpenGL result does not improve beyond 1%.

My iMac with the GT 120 gets a 180 on the OpenGL test. If the GMA950 is scoring better than a GT 120, that's really sad. (However, I got the GT 120 to play games in Windows, which has great drivers.)

Can OpenGL be rendered via software? If so, I wonder if that's the case with the older Mac Mini? The Intel 950 isn't exactly known for its graphics prowess so maybe in its the case, the tests are being rendered via software?

Also I have noticed it flickers when you invoke spaces. It can be seen on highlighted rectangle and it lags in expose.

Can anybody else confirm this too ?

Ok it is slower in UI, it flickers and it lags!

My GT 120 is perfectly smooth in Spaces, but Exposé can lag with large windows.
