there
my Mac mini 2012 has an empty socket as well, near the fan socket
on Mini's there are 2 ports-sockets for hard drives, fan, and one for the light-bluetooth something then the power.

everything works though, eh?

The sockets are under the Windtunnel near the cpu cooler an one is right nehr the end of the platine.

I couldn’t find schematics for a 2010 Mac Mini, but the connector by the CPU is an Intel XDP connector that’s used for JTAG debugging of the system.
I don’t know for sure what the other connector is, but my guess is that it can be used to reprogram the SPI flash chip that holds the BIOS or override it with a “Matt Card” daughterboard that carries an alternate flash chip.
