Hi guys, first time poster here so please excuse me if I posted to the wrong forum. I am looking at revamping my home theater setup.

I am potentially looking at getting a mac mini and a tivo premier dvr for my current directv hookup.

What I would like to do is the following:

1. Access web content on my HDTV, e.g. youtube, hulu, netflix, itunes (for both music and movies) etc.

2. Be able to link my PS3 as well as play games loaded on the mac mini on the HDTV.

3. Access photos and home movies on my macbook pro and pc at home on my HDTV.

4. Able to access recorded movies and tv shows anywhere on any device, be it on a pc or macbook pro on the local lan or over the internet, as well as on my ipad and iphone, can the mac mini access the recorded movies and tv shows from the tivo dvr?

5. Be able to edit recorded tv shows and movies.

4. Be able to control and schedule recordings, as well as access the mac mini's desktop remotely via laptop or ipad.

I have done alot of research the last few days, and have come up with multi solutions but not sure what would be the best.

So far I have come up with mac mini + Elgato eyetv HD + DVR ( be it Tivo or Moxi) etc etc

I'd like to stay with a tivo like DVR as my wife likes the tivo UI and features.

Any suggestions, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The Tivo Premiere doesn't work with Directv although there are plans for Directv to offer Tivo before the end of the year. However, they have been promising this for a while now so who knows if they'll actually stick to their deadline this time.

Also, if you do get the Tivo there really isn't any reason to go with an EyeTV because they do the same thing.

Thank you for the response, I greatly appreciate it. So if I use my exisiting DVR which is a HR22 would I need elgato's eyeHD ? Should I look at Moxi's DVR as opposed to Tivo's since they dont work with directv?

thanks!

nevermind on the moxi, it wont work with satellite providers. So my best bet is to use the mac mini with Elgato's eyetv HD. Will the eyetv HD able to access the recorded shows on my HR22 DVR and allow me access to them remotely, edit them or even watch live tv with it?
