Mac Mini/Apple TV question

Hi all,

Im really not a very tech savvy guy and would really appreciate any help with my question.

I have currently a Macbook Pro set up with an external hard drive connected to stream all my media to my apple tv. This has made my laptop become stuck in one location due to the external hard drive.

I just bought a Mac mini very cheaply off ebay but I didnt check the spec properly and it doesn't have wifi built in. I was going to use this as a media center. My mini is connected to my router and I am wondering if apple tv would wirelessly pic up the data? Or would I need to have it wifi enabled?

Another option would be to sell it and pick up and apple extreme instead and connect my external hard drive to that?

Basically im stuck and could really do with some help on this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a ad-hoc network for the Apple TV, so yes, the Mini connected to your router and aTV connected via WiFi will work just fine.

Wouldn't make any sense at all if Apple decided to only allow streaming via ad-hoc networks since no one really uses them.
