Mac mini as a media center questions

I am going to add a Mac mini as a media center in January instead of an AppleTV. I want to wait to see if they are refreshed.

Currently the media centers that I have are the Xbox 360, which connects to both the Macs with Connect360, and a Media Center PC, and a PS3 that also connects to the Macs via the same software as Connect360 (just the PS3 version)

1. How is the fan noise on the mini? (when it is cranked up dishing out video)

2. HD content; With HDMC copy protection, I am assuming that downloading HD content on iTunes and simply using a DVI to HDMI connection cable is ok. In other words is the copy protected content displaying fine with this set up?

I don't find the fan noise to a problem at all. Did have some problems with the fan on the first external harddrive enclosure I used with it, but that's it. As far as copy goes, not sure because I mainly play DVD rips and a little Hulu
