Curious to see if anyone has attempted to use a mini (or any Mac) as a remote music server. I have a mini that I'd like to serve up my music remotely to my iPhone. Would prefer to use the "iPod" app on the iPhone. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks ladies and gents!

It's trivial to do that. Just turn on home sharing in iTunes and on iPhone and on the iPhone choose the shared library from the mac mini as the music source.

This is assuming you meant within wifi range of the mini.

I suppose I should have clarified. I'm trying to do this remotely (i.e. the car, at work, etc...). Home sharing works great around the house, but I'm looking for an away from home solution. Trying to find a way around iTunes match and the song limits...

Not sure anything will work with the default Music app. You would probably have to go a different route, with something running on mini: Plex, Air Playit, etc.

I use Air Playit and just have it share my iTunes playlists. I don't really use it much as I have iTunes Match.... but it works.
