I have my Mini hooked up through a usb/minidisplayport to HDMI adapter. On my keyboard when I push mute or volume up or down, the computer shows the mute/vol up/vol down icon on the screen when I push it and it makes the volume sound, but it does not actually mute the tv or make the volume go up or down. Only the actual TV controls will make it work.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Open the sound control panel and select the correct output. There is an output volume slider there. Try that.

Many apps also have their own volume control. Does adjusting the volume in Front Row make a difference?

And you've hooked up the Mac line out to the TV, right? So why would the keyboard mute the TV? It's only going to mute your Mac. So, just set your TV to a fixed volume, and you can control the volume of what comes out of your Mac by using the keyboard.

The way its hooked up is: usb for sound and minidisplayport for video goes into this adapter box and the other side is HDMI which goes to my TV.

If I push "mute" on the keyboard, I shouldn't hear anything coming from my computer (even though the actual TV is not muted, just the computer)... However, when I mute the computer, I will still hear computer sounds through the TV as if I never pushed mute. The computer in the top right of the screen (by the clock) shows that it is muted, but it will still play sounds...

Any ideas? Thanks

What happens when you go into the Sound Control panel and adjust things there?

The mute on the keyboard could be muting the headphone output and not affecting the output on the USB audio adapter.

Could be the USB audio adapter doesn't support volume control??

I want to use my mini with boxee

I intend to use mini displayport to HDMI.

Now for the audio.

I have a sound bar than is hooked up to the TV through optical. It also has a headphone jack.

Since the mini displayport does not carry audio I assume that the stereo jack would pass the audio.

I am curious if you think this will create a problem with the sound bar.

I guess I will have to try it.

Can't find anything in there... Everything is already set to "USB Sound Device." The volume controls on the computer don't do anything at all. Everything is controlled by my TV. I would rather have it the other way around....

What adapter are you using?

The monoprice one seems to allow volume changes on the computer, but only 1 review mentions that and that review wasn't 100% sure IMHO.
