Hi everyone.

I plan to buy Mac Mini tomorrow and I have question for current Mac Min Base users.

I plan to use Mac Mini for...

1. day to day computing (web browsing, some office work, watch movies)

2. Adobe Web creation tools (Dreamweaver, In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop) to check designer's work and occasionally modify files.

3. iTunes Sharing to my iPad2 and AppleTV

4. Learn Xcode

I don't play game. I was going to buy Mac Mini server or iMac Base, but since I don't do whole a lot of CPU intensive work, maybe Mac Mini base with 8 gig ram is better for my need. What do you guys think?

Also, it seems like Mac Mini base is basically a Macbook Pro 13 base without monitor. Am I right on this?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I've been using a 2008 model for pretty much the same thing so I think it's safe to say your choice is a good one.

Defiantly pick up and 8 gb upgrade kit. I got a kit off amazon for $50 and works just fine

I've had a 2009 Mac Mini and recently upgraded to the 2011 Mac Mini. I went middle of the road at i5 2.5 $799 mainly to get the AMD Radeon GPU. I then upgraded to an 240gb OWC SSD, 8GB of Memory. I am now awaiting the cable to add a 2nd hard drive 750gb 7200 RPM. Likely most of that is overkill for what you will be doing. But I expect I'll keep this little mini for 2 or 3 years so I wanted it to be top notch for now.

I love these Mac Mini's. Probably for as much as I have invested in this little monster, I could have just gotten a iMac, but where the fun in that? LOL

The base model with an upgrade to 8gb of RAM is likely all you'll need to accomplish what you want.

Got Mac Mini base with 8 gig, been running it for few days now, and I'm very happy with my Mac Mini purchase! Even till last minute of purchase, I was debating between and iMac base and Mini. Quad core is nice, but Mini has plenty of power for what I do, and saved money for future Mini!

Again, thank you all for your kind advise!

Great, glad to hear that you got what you wanted and you are satisfied!

Good Job! :)
