Mac Mini booting issues

Hey

Recently I have been having real bad issues with my mac mini its been taking in the regions of 10-30 mins to boot up and is really starting to annoy me. Having other issues where having only 3 or 4 programs open (e.g. firefox, adium, itunes, dreamweaver) for example today caused it to completly freeze up on me. Having left it 30 mins or so still nothing. I even tried accessing it over ssh but that can't connect either. Can someone please help me as i'm having to use windows again and i don't like it !!!

What do you have plugged into the mini? If so, unplug them and see if boot time gets better. You might also be having RAM problems, is that a factory install of RAM or did you add that 1Gig later? If you did replace the RAM yourself, try putting back in the original stick and see if the problems go away. Have you also Repaired Permissions after doing your updates? Look for up on how to Repair Permissions here on the Macrumors forum.

Follow varmit's excellent advice but maybe also run fsck. It could be a failing hard drive or a corrupt system.
