hi,
i'm a photographer and i've always loved and wished to have a mac. but here in brazil macs are extreeeeeeemely expansive. (usualy costs 3x more than US price)
now i have the chance to buy the Mac Mini for "cheap" 999 US (1999 reais)
in 12 months. thats the lowest price on a mac ever here.
I realy like the macbook, but the basic model costs 2000 dollars, so is out of question.

as I said before, i'm a photographer, and i'm currently working on a Atlhon x2 3800, 2gb ram ddr2 533, 120+80 HD
and my main software is Photoshop Cs3 wich is realy light and runs like a breeze in my pc.

will I get a similar performance on the macmini c2d 1.83?

how much free space will i get on the 80gb HD?

is there any webcam other than apple that work on a mac?
and will my "Microsoft wirelles multimidia keyboard 1.1" work on it?

If you keep iLife then you're going to have 16-20 GB already taken up.

It's possible to use other web cams. You can try this too.

As long as the keyboard is USB it'll work out of the box.

As Eidorian said, the mini should do you well. I have the C2D 2.0GHz one with 1GB of RAM (I keep saving to upgrade), and I do Photoshop, and Lightroom, as well as iTunes, and Safari at the same time. It works pretty well, though I think the extra 1GB may give it room to breathe.

I bought a Logitech cam that was $40 at Target, and that's worked perfectly. They wont work out of the box, but there is a program called macam that will fix that (Google it)...

And any keyboard you plug into it will work, however, some of the keys that are special to the keyboard (say, media keys like volume and play/pause), will not, unless there is a version of their software for the MacOS.

I also bought an external hard drive for my mini, since I would blow through 120GB in a heartbeat. I got a WesternDigital MyBook for $300 thats a 750GB drive.

Good luck! You'll love the mini!
