MAcMini odd IPs
I just bought a mac mini and added it to my net. I have a dlink 655 and between the router and the cable modem I have a OOMA phone system. Heres the odd part, at first I set MacMini up and wasnt paying attention to the fact I was using wireless settings. Changed to ether. Then I noticed that I had tow ip addresses on my router website.
I resetup router and wireless address went away. THEN...that address went away and I was givena new one. My range is 192.168.0.1 - 254. It gave the ooma 254 for its first address. Then it said that there were two things trying to use that address and gave the mac 192.168.0.250.
At this point I should add that I use Ooma VOIP. It uses 172 addresses? They arent really included in the Lan. EWhen you gt a list of your devices, they arent there. Only the 192 devices, macbook, winn7, iphone, ipad etc all have addresses in this area. Here is what I am showing in my WAN area
Conn Type DHCP Client
QoS Engine : Active
Cable Status : Connected
Network Status : Established
Connection Up Time :0 Day 2 Hour 46 Min 02 Sec
MAC Address : C4:2C:03:1F:05:06
IP Address : 172.27.35.137
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 172.27.35.1
Primary DNS Server :208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS Server :208.67.220.220
ONE STRANGE THING IN CLOSING.....The mac address listed above..is the address of my MacMini!!
My MAc MIni is 192.168.0.250.
Question..should I put this ooma with its crazy address in the dmz or reserved?
