Mac mini change RAM

I bought mac mini mid 2011 couple of months ago, since its too slow, i never expected it might be that slow.. anyway i made most of the things in Performance Tips For Mac OS X..

my problem is chrome.. when i open many tabs it gets slow.. if i add more RAM do you guys thing my chrome gets faster?

Each tab in Chrome (and Safari) consumes resources so yeah its plausible that you need ram.

Open up the Activity Monitor App (found in Applications-> Utilities) and see who much ram is being consumed, particularly the page outs. High pages outs mean you're swapping a lot of ram out to disk which is slow

Open Activity Monitor and look if you have many payouts, do this when it gets slow.
If it has a lot of page outs/VM more RAM will help.

glad you posted. if your mini has 2gb ram go buy a 8gb kit

it is very simple the 2011 minis are really bad with 2gb of ram. you need more.

When I bought a base 2011 Mini with 2gb's of ram, it was sluggish and almost unusable with more than a couple of apps running. I immediately ordered 8gb's of ram from Crucial which ended up making a world of difference. It's now more than fast enough for my needs..

I went from 2gb to 8gb on my 2009 mini and noticed an immediate improvement. I do recommend the upgrade, I like what OWC had to offer in price and their support is top notch so that also gave me a peace of mind.

Ok one more question, i live in China and couldn't be sure if its right RAM for my mac mini..
for example;
MT CRUCIAL 4G 1600 DDR3 1600MHz 4GB PC3-12800
is it Ok?

Which of these numbers i have to check for right RAM for my mac mini?

The Crucial website has a built in memory advisor tool right there on the front page of the website that shows you exactly what your particular Mac needs www.crucial.com

I have a 2011 i7 quad core server that runs ok with 1600 MHz ram (16gb), but my 2011 i5 base model will only accept 1333 MHz ram. I tried to put the two 1600 2gb chips that came with my new 2012 i7 and it was beeping everywhere.

So only proceed with 1600 MHz spec if you are certain your model can handle it.
