Mac Mini core Duo chrash

i have the new intel Mac Mini. The Mac Mini fails to start up... it gets to the welcome screen and no further. We have tried booting from the install DVD to the Mac Mini and reinstalling, but nothing seems to work. how can i get some files out of it? after i have get out files i will try to erase the HDD... so how can i get out sopme important files... :confused:

It sounds like it could be a problem with either faulty RAM or RAM that is not fully seated in its slot. Have you opened the case for any reason? It could be that the RAM just got bumped out of it's socket a little and needs to be pushed back in.

i was instaling a web developer app from apple install cd... ad my mac mini stopped, i restarted it ad it is not go further then login window

yes i have been opened the case. I was upgrading from 512 to 2 GB.
but i vas operating with it one week or so fully normaly.

do you think i need to open again and check if RAM is in place? its SO hard work to do because its not easy to open it...

what exactly do i need to do with fsck when im in single user mode (black screen & white letters), what commands do i need to type?

im using a MAC only a month... :rolleyes:

but when i type that comand it says:

so is there any hope?

Okay, try using the OSX discs instead. Insert the OSX disc, start up holding C and select Disk Utility from one of the menus (Installer menu from memory). Now, select your hard disk on the left side and click Restore Disk on the bottom right. :)

hmm...

i think there is some larger error...

There's definitely something very wrong with your disk. If you have another Mac nearby. you can try to connect the two by Firewire and try to access the borked hard drive through target mode. (Hold down T while turning the computer on.)

If that doesn't work, I think you're going to have to send it to some data rescue company to get any data back, and that's expensive.

You have some serious directory damage to your hard drive, but all may not be lost. I would suggest buying a copy of Disk Warrior from Alsoft. This application saved me the last time I had a similar problem.

I have reescued my files

I connected my MAC MINI to a iMAC via firewire and got all my files back...
i reinstalled all system and now it is going just fine...
thanks for help.. :rolleyes:

If you verify your disk in Disk Utility, does it come up with any errors? I'm not sure I'd rely on that disk just yet. I'd make sure it's okay first. :)

If the disk was verified in the reinstallation, I think it should be okay. Disk Warrior probably would have fixed this problem; if fact, I wonder if Disk Utility would have done the trick if run on the host Mac in Target Disk Mode.

I checked thad disk ad it shows me this:

but i cant do the repair...

any sugestions? :confused:

not tryed right now... i have forgot my boot disc at home (140 km from here)

i will report :eek: ... soon

that hasn't happened to me yet (knocks on wood)
but i have had my share of problems

if you can get it to boot up and you think it is software try putting a different version of firmware on it

this time too it gives me a report that checking is faled...

maybe i need to bring it beck to the shop for the warranty check
