Ok, i was very disappointed with the Mac Mini refresh. New units are just too expensive for what they are. Heck the refurbished are as well.

Anyway, I am considering the refurb Core Duo Mini.

Few questions:

1) Will Intel GMA 950 handle hi-def XVID decoding?

2) Does upgrading the ram to 2gb myself void the warranty?

3) Will running MS Windows in VMWare work well on this model Mini?

Thanks!

Video decoding is processor bound and the Core Duo handles 1080p video well.

I believe that upgrading the RAM will only void your warranty if you break something. I've replaced the RAM on about a dozen Mac minis without any issues.

what about the use of VMWare Windows to run office 2007 etc?
