Mac Mini Does not Display Properly

My mac mini is working perfectly, but when i hooked it up to an onkyo HT-RC260 (to output to my 26" TV), the screen resolution was distorted. at the moment, I'm directly hooked up to my TV, which works fine, but once i hook it into my receiver, it gets all screwed up. The display settings (in System Preferences) that work with my TV are 720p.

Sounds like the onkyo is the problem. I have the onkyo tx nr709 and it has several settings to adjust resolution and upscaling. Maybe check those.
