I have a Vaio FS315E laptop which has a 1.6Ghz Celeron M, an Intel 915GM and 1GB of ram. I was just wondering how much faster (if any :D) a Core Duo Mac Mini would be. I am considering buying a mac at some point but I don't think my budget will stretch to an iMac at the moment.

A lot better, if you have the same amount of ram.

I was planning to get the MacBook when everyone was speculating it was going to come out. However my PC died in january and as the MacBook hadn't come out, I went to the Vaio instead. I'm not going to replace it yet, but I am interested in an Apple desktop.

Seems still too expensive though. That's kind of close to the iMac.

You cant use edu discount. Can you? Coz in case you do then the stock 1099MB will actually cost you bout 930$ only.

I can get the Edu discount but sadly I'm in the UK and the dollar price is much more attractive. I wish Apple did a computer with the power of the iMac but without the screen because I already have a pretty decent monitor.

you aren't alone on that one

Who designed the PowerBook in 1991? And was it not a team of ex-Vaio designers who worked on the MMP? :D
