Mac Mini EFI Update 1.2

After applying the Mac Mini EFI Firmware update I've noticed what seems to be a more efficient use of memory by the OS and other applications then I was getting in 10.6 and 10.5.x. Anyone else??

This update improves compatibility with the latest Apple memory kits on Mac mini computers.

To complete the firmware update process, please follow the instructions in the updater application (/Applications/Utilities/Mac mini EFI Firmware Update.app). The updater will launch automatically when the installation is complete.
 
This update is for Mac mini computers with Intel processors only.

To update the firmware:

1. Quit all other open applications.

2. Click Shut Down in the Mac mini EFI Firmware Update window and wait for your computer to shut down.

3. Press and release the power button on your Mac mini.

The screen will turn black and remain in that state for up to 40 seconds. A grey screen then appears and a status bar indicates the progress of the update.

Important: Do not interrupt the update. It will take several minutes for the update to complete.

Your computer restarts automatically when the update is completed and the Mac mini EFI Firmware Update will confirm your firmware is now up-to-date.

I noticed my computer running more efficiently. I installed the EFI update right after I upgraded to Snow Leopard, so I don't know which one is making my computer faster, but it's likely a combination of the two. I'd like to know more specifically what this EFI update did.
 
I sent an email off to Other World Computing asking if they would be so kind as to test 6GB and 8GB configurations again after this update. We'll see what they have to say.

So I got a response from OWC. They will be testing the Mini again for 6GB and 8GB compatibility.

my Mac mini never had the update... been checking the last few days and even restarted without it saying anything. weird.
 
My 09 2.26ghz is extremely snappy after the update.

Curiously, I was trying to save a few bucks by buying some ram online from an eBay seller for the new mini the day the update came out.

Tried the ram before the update. Got three beeps. Bad ram.

Tried the ram after the update. Got three beeps. Bad ram.

I had purchased four gigs two times two gigs) of Patriot ram from Fry's at 80 bucks plus tax and they worked fine before and after. Returning the cheaper eBay ram.

But the mini is very fast. It is also fast because I updated the hd to 500gb 7200 rpm.
 
Backing up and clean installing my mini really speeded up startup and shut downs in snow leopard. My mini has always felt like a supper computer because of the bargain corsair ssd inside :) mmmm
