Mac Mini Fan

I just got a 2GB RAM upgrade today (on my Intel Core Solo 2006 model - 60GB HD) by an Apple authorised service provider near my area and since I've brought it home and turned it on the fan has been blowing at full power (and never has it stopped - I've had it home for about 4 hours now) - everything works and the speed increase is noticeable and I've checked System Profiler and the RAM is 'OK'. Do I need to do anything now I've had the RAM upgrade I've heard a few sites saying about zapping the RAM or whatever (if I'm at all correctly saying it)?

There is a fan cable on the front side of the Mac mini to the right of the speaker and under the Superdrive. If it is plugged in, the fan speed will adjust as needed and the mini will be mostly silent. If left unplugged, your mini will sound like it is about to take flight. The cable has to be disconnected to upgrade the RAM. They just forgot to plug it back in. Its an easy fix that they should be able to do in about 90 seconds.

That's most probably the case...ill e-mail them tomorrow, I won't be happy as the service centre is 30 miles away. Thanks for your reply .

you could take it apart yourself, the owc upgrade videos are very helpfull.
or go to the store and tell them you had to travel back 60 miles in total, they will discount you for sure

The only cable you have to disconnect is on the opposite side (top left) of the pic you posted. Don't know if that flat flex cable is for though.

You technically don't have to disconnect the one I showed as you can just lay the drive caddy down in front but it is much easier to just disconnect it. The symptom is identical to what happens when you forget to plug it in. I know this from forgetting to do so myself on at least one occasion. It had been a while since I messed with a mini so I pulled mine out, disconnect the cable and turned it on and the fan roared. Plugged it back in and it was silent. Thats when I took the above picture.
