I'm currently running a mid 2010 Mac Mini Server as Mavericks (non server) to serve a web site and to run a modded mine craft server.

The server runs as Java in a terminal window so graphics arent important to me on this machine. (but its a NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB)

Processor is 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory on the machine is 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3

I'm pretty sure that Java is not multithreaded so clock speed is more important than number of cores.

How much of a performance boost would I get going from 2.66 Ghz Core 2 Duo to 3.0Ghz Dual-Core i7 (being mindful that the java process would only be using one core)

In Australian dollars the i7 8Gb iMac with 1TB fusion drive would cost 1489AUD.

Probably not worth it right?
