Mac Mini HDTV resolution

Hello,
I plugged my Mac Mini to the Sharp Aquos LC-46LE810UN via an HDMI cable.
It gives few resolution options including 720p and 1080p but when I choose 1080P it does look good but the image is to big and it hides my icons on the bottom of the screen and the menu option on the top.
Should I be even using 1080p or 720P ?
Is there a way to zoom in and out to adjust the image on the screen in OSX?

adjust your TV overscan settings. Look for a 'full pixel' or 'just' or similar setting . This is a really annoying feature on 1080p sets. Particularly these days when being fed digital sources, the amount of overscan they apply is nuts

Got to your View Mode for your Input of the Mini and see if you have a mode called "Dot-to-Dot" or something like that. It should fix the problem without have to use the "Overscan" slider.

Is it a 2010 mini? If it is, dont you have an overscan/underscan slider you can use to fine tune the size? I know my Toshiba HDTV doesnt have an 1:1 or dot to dot mode so there is always a 3% overscan applied.
