Hey guys having a weird problem I'm hoping you can help with because talking to apple service is like asking my 6 month old son for computer help. Just picked up a new mac mini (2014), got it all set up, ran my time machine backup and everything is running smooth. Went to restart the computer and when it booted back up into the login screen I noticed my BT keyboard and mouse no longer work. Tried restarting multiple times, tried a USB mouse and keyboard from my PC and even went and stole the USB wired apple keyboard from my wifes older mac pro and still nothing. Weird thing is when it boots up if I go into restore mode BT keyboard and mouse work fine, because of this I have wiped the HDD once already (keyboard and mouse working fine) reinstalled OS and spent all day re setting this thing up even tried restarting it once or twice with no problems and recently just did another restart and BOOM back to no keyboard and mouse. I am stumped, I do not want to have to go threw another install and set up and I don't want to have to go to the apple store to be treated like its my first computer if I don't have to. Any ideas??

Which BT Keyboard and Mouse Do You Have?
When you say "and still nothing" do you mean that the USB wired apple keyboard from your wife's older mac pro did not work at all? Is that also what happened with the USB mouse and keyboard from your PC? It sounds like you had no function from either BT or USB control pairs for a while.
Take it back. Meister is right. There is no way you should consider performing multiple OS installs in an attempt to get a new computer running right. OS X is easy to install properly but that is bad news for your mini. I doubt that you and Apple both blew the job of installing OS X.

So I went to the apple store and after 20 minutes of trying all there diagnostic software they were stumped at the problem, the end conclusion they had was a bad logic board. They exchanged it out for a new mac mini and as I type this it is restoring from my time machine back up, fingers crossed. The one thing that I am still curious about and they could not give me any answer on is why when i hold command at boot and go into boot mode my bluetooth mouse and keyboard work just fine? I still have this weird feeling that it is some how software related, maybe something to do with restoring from time machine?

You could be right. We said take it back and the Apple store guessed bad logic board as they threw in the towel, but you could still be correct. If you are right about the backup then the problem is likely to reappear. Pay close attention to your activities on the machine. Dont run software or make changes willy nilly at first. I say this because a problem linked to your Time Machine backup will appear after some specific code runs.
Lets say the problem does come back within a few hours. It should be possible to identify which program or utility is killing your keyboard and mouse if you can determine exactly when the problem starts. Will it reoccur after a simple restart, or do you have to run some specific program first? If this problem does appear again I would expect it to be caused by a program or feature from your old system that is not compatible with your hardware or operating system. Is this Time Machine backup from a Yosemite system or an older version of OS X?
Perhaps your new mini will break again. Or maybe you are just...
